L.A. Scoop by Tequila Mockingbird Sith, sith, in my last column Snake lady Rose and I were posing for a post card for Lemmy. Snake lady Rose is coming to my Birthday party and as usual I’ll give the spankings! I hear Lemmy just played in Canada. I believe he is still on tour; he’s still out there rocking the universe. Did you see him on World Wrestling Federation? Go get you some Motorhead. I’m so excited. I’m going to see David Lee Roth! He is playing at the Highlands. That’s cool. David put me in his book Crazy from the Heat. We all hung out at the Zero One gallery formally above Playmates on Hollywood Blvd. We used to sing all night long. There’s a new bookstore on Hollywood Blvd called Boulevard books. I picked up a yummy Marlene Dietrich book. The price is right. They opened the Red Buddha nightclub where Goldfingers used to be. Concorde is around the corner from the White Lotus and they are all spitting distance form Star Shoes, and the Beauty Bar. Texas Terri played her last LA gig at CIA AKA The California Institute of Abnormal Art. She is leaving for Europe next week for a hell of tour. She played with Prima Donna as her back up band, and she had sax, and keyboards in her line up. She will be back in 6 months kids so wish her well. Now CIA has a Liquor license and a restaurant. I went to the 14th annual Music Video Production Awards (MVPA) downtown at the Orphiuem theatre. I went with John from Hollywood Book and Poster, Kelly from Boardners and Lion girl, her sister and a gal pal. I used to work as a receptionist at Limelight after I did the booking for New Wave Theatre, which was before MTV existed. I was in ‘would I lie to you” by the Eurethmics and Appolonia, Prince’s protégé, Dancing with myself and a ton of movies. My friend Scotty Lazarus is dead. He was one of my favorite casting agents. He always gave me great parts. He was such a cool guy. I want in on his casting after death list. I’m sure he’s very popular wherever he landed, even now. I saw big bad David, King of DNA. Director Howard Wolffington, the always-exciting Jeff Ayeoff, who won the Kratz award, cause he is was and always has been cool. A true visual revolutionary.Zac Mathews was up for best art director for Gwenny's "What you waiting for" and Sum 41's "Pieces". You go art dog! Francis Lawrence from DNA was up for two awards in the best direction of a female artist with Gwen Stefani’s “ What you waiting for” and Janet Jackson’s All Nite (Don’t Stop) DNA Inc won lots of awards for Gwen Stefani video. Black-eyed Peas, The Killers, Green Day, Kanye West, Jay Z and Fatboy Slim’s video’s were all winners. Will Ferrell’s video won best cross-promotional video of the year. I worked Simon at Limelight video in the 80’s while we did Madonna’s like a virgin, at one time I had an invite to her first wedding, Teenage Ninja Turtles and Dire Straits, MTV song “That aint working that’s the way we do it. Money for nothing and the chicks for free.” My natal birthday is Thursday, May 26 Lanning Gold is showing his art at Masquers on 3rd street near La Cienega. I will be singing Blues with the Voodoo Girls and Spikes other blues band, Big Sur will be playing. I’m trying to rally my favorite bands, the Downbeats or the Atomic Sherpas for the bill, we will see… They are playing at the Downbeat café and Taix. Anyway come on down and I'll sing real pretty for you and you'll see some really great art too!. The wonder that is the Brewery Art Walk happened again last weekend. Terri King, Miropolsky, Nate Scoble, and hundreds of artists, opened their lofts for public perusal. Carson Daily spent many an evening at Boardners while he was in town making his show. He seemed fond of Tammi 2 for Tuesdays. Carson shot at the Palladium on Sunset and is not as homely as I thought he was on TV. One thing that pisses me off about New York Corporate Rock late night TV production is… Why didn’t they use LA Bands like Texas Terri, 45 Grave or HTTH? I should have been their consultant. Maybe you’ll next time Carson. I stopped at the Velvet Margarita to have a cocktail and listen to Skatemaster Tate spin some tunes. The joint is filled with movie stars. The food is so yummy!
